Saline’s own Bethany Easom has been selected as one of 120 finalists for the MHSAA Scholar-Athlete Award. This incredible achievement marks the halfway point for Bethany in determining whether she will be a part of a select 32 award recipients. The prize: A $1000 scholarship.
Contestants must be a senior, letter in a varsity sport, and have a 3.50 GPA. They also must answer two short answer questions, as well as write a 500 word essay.
Bethany has competed in four different sports, while lettering in two, over her high school years. She played softball as a freshman, and volleyball from 9th to 11th grade. In addition, she ran cross country for her first year in 2011, and will return to be a captain of the women’s track team for her fourth consecutive spring.
Being in the top 120 is a huge deal. She has competed with no less than 1000 athletes to reach this point and is one of three, in recent history, to be selected from Saline. Bethany commented on her achievement, “It feels really good, and is a real honor to receive this award. I am very happy to be a part of Saline athletics”.
