The Saline Competitive Cheer team has had some impressive finishes in key competitions so far this season. At their competition in Adrian this weekend the girls finished first, scoring a total of 724.86 points over three rounds, just missing their team goal of 725 points. Just over a week ago the team also won the Manchester Invite and finished in second place in Northville. Although they didn’t come home with the first place trophy, coach Natasha Boysal was extremely proud of her athletes, who ended the competition with a total score of 753 points – a Saline Cheer record.
“This was by far my proudest coaching moment,” Boysal said. ”The girls were so focused on their own competition. Even though there were a lot of other great teams there they didn’t let that get to them. They seemed very relaxed and excited about their performances.”
Just last year the team finished in ninth place at the very same competition.
“Every week the team is improving. Our goal is to make it to the Regional meet on Jan 25 at Lake Orion.”
In order to compete in the Regional meet, the girls must place top four in in the District competition on February 18 at Southgate Anderson.
