The 7th Grade Blue Hornets learned many things in their game against Chelsea on Thursday. They learned what it means to completely control the first half of a game and then have that role reversed in the second half. They learned what it is like to face a tough press, and still scrap to stay within striking distance. Finally, they learned what it means to take a tough loss with grace and sportsmanship. Although the final score was 15-5 Chelsea didn’t take command of the game until 4:29 in the third quarter, and they were only leading by one point going into the fourth quarter. The 7th Grade Blue Hornets will make adjustments and when they face Chelsea again (on February 27) they will have the opportunity to take the lessons learned in this game and transfer that information into the re-match.
In 8th grade action, the Blue Hornets fought with determination but came up short. Chelsea secured the win 18-5.
On the road, the 8th Grade Gold Hornets added another tally mark to their win column with a 23-7 defeat of Dexter Gold.
The 7th Grade Gold did not play on Thursday, and will not rejoin the action until February 9, when they travel with the 8th Grade Gold to Tecumseh.
Middle School Basketball action resumes on Monday, February 6, as the Blue Hornets will take on the Kicking Mules at Bedford, and the 8th Grade Gold Hornets will square off against Dexter Gold at home.
