This past weekend four varsity tennis players had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in front of more than 200 members of the Michigan High School Tennis Coach’s Association at the annual clinic in Troy, MI. Juniors Mary Hanna and Will Heider and seniors Jennifer Ho and Heather Vogt accompanied coach Andy BeDell to the clinic.
There, they were to work with United States Professional Tennis Association Master Professional Jon Fischer demonstrating drills and games. They arrived early on Saturday and coach BeDell introduced them to Coach Wayne Bryan. Bryan is world renown and is the father and coach of Mike and Bob Bryan, the top-ranked doubles team in the world. Runners up at the Australian Open in January, the brothers hold 17 grand slam titles and 76 titles overall. They are arguably the best doubles team in the history of tennis.
Coach Bryan talked to the players and said “stick around I might need you.” And he need. The players jumped in and demonstrated for two hours the various drills and games coach Bryan presented to the conference. Bryan applauded our player’s focus and hustle repeatedly.
The players went on to work out for another nearly two hours with pro Jon Fischer.  Mary, Will, Heather and Jen represented Saline Tennis and Saline athletics proudly, with focus and good-natured determination.
