Emily White gets a Hole-in-One at the Brighton Invite

images

The Hornet linksters had an outstanding outing at Oak Pointe Country Club in the Brighton Invitational today. The day began with Jr. Emily White shooting a Hole in One on her 4th hole and ended with the team finishing 2nd overall in the 14 team tournament. Host team Brighton won with a 312 and Saline finished with a 329, the second lowest team score in the past 8 years. White shot a 73, finishing tied for third in the field, on the strength of the eagle, a 6 iron to an uphill 135 yd hole, and 3 birdies. Freshman Samantha Kellstrom added a fine 79, a personal best, starting the back nine off with a birdie 3. Jr. Stacy Cruze showed dramatic improvement with an 82 that included a 38 on the back nine with a birdie on the par 4 12th hole. Sr. Louisa Antonelli added her own birdie 2 on the 15th hole en route to a 95. The Hornets were much better with their putting today after emphasis on that in practice last week. Cruze had 13 putts on the back nine and Kellstrom 30 putts overall to lead the team. The team improved 26 strokes over their last tournament. This is encouraging as they enter SEC conference play at the U of M Golf Course on Wed.
