The Saline Girls’ Golf team advanced on to the State Tournament next weekend by qualifying as one of the top three teams at the Regional tournament held today at Pineview Golf Course in Ypsilanti. The Hornets finished in second place shooting 349 behind Plymouth’s first place 330. Ann Arbor Pioneer took the third and last spot with a 361. The Hornets’ Emily White placed tied for second in the tournament with a 78. Samantha Kellstrom and Stacy Cruze shot 87 and 89 respectively to place among the top ten finishers in the tournament. Louisa Antonelli followed with a 95 to finish scoring for the Hornets. The weather was brutal today with a high of 50 degrees, wind, rain and even a 10 minute hail storm that caused a delay in putting until the hail melted on the greens. The Hornets scored well in these conditions and are pleased to return to the State tournament for the 5th year in a row. Michigan State University’s Forest Akers East will host the Division I State tournament.
