Middle School Track Completes Their Season

Our MS track team wrapped up its dual meet season on Monday May 19th with a home meet against Monroe. The weather was awesome and we were able to finish the day with victories in both the boys and girls meets.
Boys – Saline 78 – Monroe 50
Girls – Saline 79 – Monroe 49
Athletes that stood out.
Neil Garg – Breaking 5 minutes for the 1st time in his running career. Neil ran a 4:56.1 mile taking 2nd to his teammate Dekraker also running sub 5. Neil was also on the winning 4×800 relay posting a second leg split of 2:20. And wrapping up his evening on the winning 4×400 he ran the 3rd leg in a time of 61.3.
Ben Phelps – A steady 800 performer this meet. Ben got faster as the meet progressed. Starting out with an open 800 time of 2:33 he then went on to shave off 6 seconds running third in a 2:27 on the 4×800 relay 1st place team.
Matt Sayre – Continuing with his field event double duty. Matt cleared 4′ 10″ in the high jump, good enough for 3rd place. Following his jumping, he went on to throw a distance of 32′ 11″ to win shot put. Matt also ran the 4×200 relay splitting a 30.75 for his anchor leg sprint.
Win Walker – Jumping into the 70 for the first time this season. Win ran a 9.48. He also ran the second leg of the winning 4×200 relay with a 26.55 200 split. All this continued his solid performances that have been on display all season.
Josh Cook – Taking 2nd in the 3200 run with a sub 12 minute performance, Josh ran a 11:59! His first time under 12 minutes. He then joined his teammates on the B 4×800 posting a second leg split of 2:40.
Juliana Romero – Hopping in the 2 mile Juliana led a Saline sweep taking 1st place and posting a PR with a time of 13:02. She rested up and then ran on the B 4×800 relay posting a 800 time of 2:50.
Yasmine Laijmi – Starting her afternoon off running second on the winning 4×200 relay Yasmine posted a 31.2 split. Next she was in the open 400 finishing out another Saline sweep with a 3rd place finish in a time of 71.08. Her final race of the evening was on the winning 4×400 where she ran in the third position with a split time of 72.9.
Rachel Rosati – Running well in practice this week, Rachel took 3rd in the open 800 with a time of 2:49.3 and good enough for another distance sweep for Saline. Rachel then ran the third leg on the winning 4×800 posting a time of 2:51.
Hannah Wilson – Doing a nice job all season, Hannah had another good day on Monday. Starting with a 3rd place finish in the long jump with a jump of 11′ 7.5″. Her running talent was also on display in the open 800 with a time of 2:50.7
Mirinalini Iyer – Running wherever she is needed this season, Mirinalini had another good meet. In the Open 100 she posted a time of 15.76, Mirinalini then anchored the B 4×100 relay team splitting a 15.18.
