Rowing Teams Compete in Ohio

Womens Lightweight 8

This weekend, the Saline Rowing Team competed against 46 teams from 8 states in the Midwest Scholastic Championships in Nashport, Ohio.  The top 3 boats in each event qualify for the National Scholastic Championships in Camden, New Jersey on May 27-28. 

Saline placed 5 boats in the finals on Sunday:  Women’s Lightweight Double, Women’s Lightweight 8, Men’s Lightweigh 8, Women’s Varsity 8 and Men’s Varsity 8.  This year, Saline medaled in 2 events, its most ever!  Winning medals this year were:

  • The women’s lightweight double featuring Emma Frick and Morgan Bergren finishing second and earning a silver medal
  • The women’s lightweight 8 featuring Sara Cook (coxswain), Kai Jackson (bow), Sara Abee Karolina Burtell, Olivia Schreiber, Sierra Fancher, Morgan Bergren, Fay Hargrove and Emma Frick (stroke) finished third and earning a bronze medal

This week, the team competes in the Michigan High School State Championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, May 20.
