Ranked #1 in the State, the Saline girls water polo team put its seven game winning steak on the line as it traveled north to take on Birmingham Groves. Maddy Murphy scored early as the Hornets jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter. Murphy finished with four goals and five steals. Cassie Anderson scored on a 5-meter and added three more. Again, the Hornets’ balanced their scoring attack with goals from Lisa Gross, Sam Fitch, Eleanor Smith, Jen Green, Hope Smith, and newcomer Lauren Kruse. Katie Wagner made five saves in goal.
Next game for the Hornets is on Tuesday, April 18 at Skyline.
In the nightcap, the JV team lost a tough battle 9-3. Annabelle Lovett, Izzy Chehadi and Emily Huetteman scored for Saline. Lauren Kruse and Alyssa Deal each had five steals.
