This weekend the Saline Girl’s Cross Country team participated in two events, both on September 24th. One team was taken to participate in the Monroe Jefferson Invitational, and another team of girls raced at the Jackson Invitational.
Saline earned a first place finish at the Jackson Invitational and also had the individual champion for the event, Elianna Shwayder! The Saline girls finished with a team total of 42. Three of the Saline runners finished in the top 5, 4 were in the top 9, and all 7 girls finished in the top 37. The Hornets have won this meet three times in the last four years!
At the Monroe Jefferson Invitational, Saline Varsity finished in third place with a score of 114. Six of the Saline runners placed in the top 30 and earned individual medals for doing so. The Hornets ran exceptionally well, as they competed against many of the other school’s “A” teams. In the JV race, Kelly Hall and Alexis Ammon were the top two finishers, and Kelly’s time would have put her at 14th place for the Varsity race. Eight girls placed in the top 11, 12 were in the top 20, and 18 girls finished in the top 40. If a score would have been kept, it would have been a very low team total of 24. There were 46 season personal records for the meet, and one all-time personal record. Way to go!
Upcoming for the Hornets this week– Jam #2 hosted by Saline on Tuesday. Good luck girls!
