Multiple Teams · “Athlete of the Week”

Hornet News

As the springs season is winding down and as the school season is coming to an end, it is time to choose an “Athlete of the Week” that just like Laura Vaccaro, could be the “Athlete of the Week”: in just about any week.  But keeping in the scope of the award, it is when something sets a particular athlete apart from the field, it is then when an athlete will be named.

In the early days of the award, this athlete and great young man was already named as the athlete of the week so he too will become a repeat winner but he will be the first two time winner from different sports.  Basketball & Baseball.

This week’s winner is senior Michael Hendrickson.

In any game that pitches, you can bet on the other team scoring no runs or just a few.  There is no game when he is on the hill that the Hornets are not in the game.  While I am not able to compile a list of stats for Michael, I can tell you this past week he shut out Ann Arbor Huron and against Ann Arbor Pioneer he homered on Senior Day!

But what separates Michael this week was his nomination to the “Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association” All-Star game on July 10th.  The game will be played at Comerica Park and game time is 7:00pm.  Tickets are available at the gate and tickets are 10.00.  The link to the event is here:  http://goo.gl/txSqF3

The Hornet Baseball squad will begin its post season this weekend as they head to Bedford.  You can rest assured that Michael Hendrickson will be a huge part of the team’s success.  If and when the baseball team’s season comes to an end, watching Michael next year pitching for the University of Michigan will be pretty cool.

Congratulations Michael!
