After an overtime shoot-out round, the Hornet field hockey team pulled off a 3-2 victory over 4th seeded Forest Hills High School in Tuesday nights quarter-final round of the state playoffs.
Tied 0-0 after regulation play, the game went into a ten minute 7 V 7 sudden victory overtime, in which neither team scored. The game was then sent into a 1 V 1 shoot out round, where both teams picked 5 field players to alternately go 1 V 1 against opposing keepers.
After four players for each team took their turns, the score was tied 2-2.
The fifth and last Hornet player was Freshman Grace Livsey, who dribbled the ball past the Forest Hills keeper to score the winning goal.
The two other Saline goals were scored by Abby Morton and Sophia Tzavaras. Goalie Kennedy Boyer, was in net during the 1 V 1 round, and made three tremendous saves.
On Thursday at 7 pm, Saline will play Dexter in the semi-final round in Dearborn. Go Hornets!
