Saline High School
At the official State Tournament for Michigan’s JV Field Hockey teams, held at Saline High School October 14th, the JV Hornets fought hard against touch competition. All squads showed improvements since the early season games, and came to play for the Championship cup.
Saline lost in the last 12 seconds to a tough Dexter team, who were able to convert on a corner. The girls got fired up, though, after a 4-round shootout session, following a tie with Detroit Country Day School. Freshman, Shae Murphy, Sophomore, Kayla Wilson, and Junior Captain, Ashlyn Murphey, all succeeded on one attempt when it counted the most. Junior Goalkeeper, Eva Doorlag, stopped 10 of the 12 attempts on her cage.
The third game vs Marian also went to shootouts, but the three shooters were unable to rack up enough goals for the win.
The Tournament was a great experience for all teams and families. Saline looks forward to potentially hosting again next year.
