Hornet golfer, Catherine Loftus, has been nominated for WDIV’s 4Frenzy Fan Choice Awards Best Senior Girls Golfer. The write-up for Catherine:
“Catherine has had a great season and great career. She is a 2nd year Co-Captain, a 4x All State All Academic Team selection, an All State Selection as a junior and possible Super Team member this year, She earned her 3rd straight All Conference Selection, she won 6x this year including the Conference Championship and the Regional Championship. She made 10 All Tournament Team Selections. She finished 3rd place at the State Finals. She is the leader of a record breaking Saline golf team that broke and set numerous all time Hornet Golf records. Outside of golf, she is a member of the National Honor Society, formed the 10 Teens Who Care at Saline High School, is a Student Council Representative and is heading to Haiti in the Spring to help with water filter installations. Catherine is the epitome of a Student Athlete and she is an outstanding young lady.”
The Hornets coach, Debbie Williams-Hoak, has also been nominated for Best Coach for Girls Golf. The write-up for Coach Williams-Hoak:
“I would like to nominate my wife for this honor. She does not know I am doing this as one of the things that makes her so great is how humble she is.
Debbie has coached this group of 4 seniors for the last 4 years and they have rewritten the Saline Hornet Girls Golf record books. They have only lost once in 4 years in Conference Play, won the Conference Championship 4 years, competed at the State Finals for 4 years finishing 11, 6th, 5th and 3rd this year. The team has also been Academic All State for 4 years. The part that I get to see is when she comes home, how truly excited and happy she is for these girls and then when something does not go well for any of them, how much she feels bad for them. During the season, she is working constantly on things to try and help make them better from the time she gets up in the morning until practice and then after practice. She loves coaching and helping young girls and boys enjoy the game of golf and learn great life lessons. I feel very lucky to be her husband and watch all the wonderful things she does.”
