This Coach Spotlight features our Girls Water Polo Coach, Nathan Barnett
Q: What has been your message to your team with the cancellation of your season?
A: I know that this situation is not the best but we will get through this and come back better than ever. Unfortunately for our Seniors, you lose arguably the last season of water polo you may play and for that I am sorry. The countless hours of work that you put in will not be taken away and will shine in other areas of your lives as your graduate from Saline. We will take next year by storm and dedicate the time and effort we put into those that had it taken away from them.
Q: What were your team expectations for 2020?
A: Our team had high hopes for 2020 coming off a states appearance last year after their first miss in three years we had hope that we could make the journey again. The upperclassman were fired up and hoped to take our district by storm and make it out of the regional and district gauntlet in better standings than the previous year.
Q: Please tell us about your seniors – name, position on team, successes they achieved in the short time they participated this season.
A: Lindsay Cain: Goalie, Partners
Grace Edwards: Wing attacker
Emma Loveland: Wing attacker
Maria Fernandez: Wing attacker
Jane Altevogt: Wing attacker
Q: What message do you have for your seniors?
A: I am sorry your season got cut short, please do not let this impact your love of the sport or the drive you have academically. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Thank you for the time and effort you put into representing Saline water polo both in the on and off-season and how you present yourselves in and out of the pool. To Lindsay and Grace thank you for the dedication you have shown me to improve and the drive to get better every season. To Jane, Maria, and Emma thank you for giving water polo a chance even though we didn’t get the opportunity to play games I enjoyed what you brought to the team and the pool.
