Saline Middle School Volleyball Tryout Information – 2020
The 7th and 8th Grade Girls Volleyball Tryouts will be held in the SMS gymnasium on Wednesday,September 9th through Friday,September 11th from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. (This change was because of restrictions in the use of indoor facilities due to COVID-19.)
All athletes trying out for the volleyball teams should plan to attend all three of the tryout dates. Please bring your own water bottle, and you must wear a mask!
All students must have a current physical with a completed form on the first day of tryouts. Due to COVID-19, any 8th grade athlete who had a physical prior to April 15th, 2019 does not need a NEW physical, but does need to complete the questionnaire to meet state requirements. Any 7th grade student athlete or 8th grade student without a physical from last year will need to get a physical and complete the required forms prior to starting tryouts on September 9th. If a player does not have a completed physical form or has not completed the required questionnaire, they cannot participate in tryouts until they have completed them. These forms can be found on the Saline Athletic website at www.salinehornets.com under the “Parent’s Corner” tab.
After the 3-Day Tryout, if a student is selected for the 7th and 8th grade teams:
- All teams practice every day after school from 3:30–5:00pm (unless we have a game.)
- Athletes are expected to attend all practices and games, or playing time will be affected. (i.e, leaving early for soccer practice, dance, etc.)
- Games are usually played on Mondays and Wednesdays through the end of October.
- There is one potential Saturday tournament for each grade (Dates are TBD.)
- There is a “Pay to Participate” fee of $275 for middle school sports.
Thank you for your patience as we awaited the update and directive from the governor and the MHSAA. We received that information on Thursday, September 3rd that schools could continue with fall sports.
We look forward to seeing you on September 9th…..GO HORNETS!!!
