Saline picked up their 10th win on the season against Bedford at the Toledo Ice House late Wednesday night. The Hornets dominated the first period and took a 2-goal lead with goals from Mason Ausmus and Collin Clark. The Hornets were outshooting the Mules 12-3 until Bedford racked up 6 shots and a goal on a power play to cut the Hornets lead in half at the end of the frame.
The second period was all Mules. They frustrated the Hornets by blocking shots, playing solid defense, and making scoring opportunities count. They scored 2 goals in the period to take a 3-2 lead, which could have been a bigger lead if it weren’t for the excellent play of Saline goaltender Jeffrey Gilbert.
The Hornets came out a new team in the third and took control of the game, outshooting the Mules 9-6 and scoring 3 goals to seal a win. The first goal, scored by Senior, Tom Raupp came shortly into the period. Brendan Murphy and Mikhail Lozovyy also added goals to push the lead to 5-3.
Notables: Mikhail Lozovyy lead Saline with 3pts (1g, 2a) on the night, while Tom Raupp and Mason Ausmus each contributed 2 pts (g,a each). The Hornets move to 10-1 on the season and will face off against Livonia Franklin Friday night at 530pm at Eddie Edgar Arena in Livonia.
