Girls Varsity Competitive Cheer · @TheSalinePost: Cheer Takes 2nd in SEC Meet, 3rd at Pinckney


The Saline High School competitive cheer placed second at the second SEC meet, held Jan. 11 at Saline High School. The Hornets finished with 676 points, gaining 221.1 points in round one, 190.34 points in round two and 264.2 points in round three. The Saline Middle School competitive cheerleading team also competed at the SEC meet.

The Saline-Chelsea Ski Team got off to a solid start in their first race at Mt Brighton on Tuesday night. There were two challenging slalom courses set for the race, with each racer required to complete clean runs through both courses, with the combined times determining place.

Boys Varsity Basketball · @TheSalinePost: Hornets Cruise to Easy Victory to Open 2018


The Saline Hornets opened the second half of their season with a convincing 53 – 37 win over the Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks at home Tuesday night, upping their season record to 6 – 1.  Any questions about how this young team would respond after the two-week holiday break were answered quickly as the Hornets’ smothering defense held the Black Hawks to just four points in the first quarter.  Bloomfield Hills scored the first four points of the contest, with Saline then going on a 9 – 0 run to take a 9 – 4 first quarter lead.

The Saline varsity girls basketball team returned to its winning ways Saturday, defeating Traverse City West 49-36.

The game was tied at 22 at halftime. The Hornets outscored their opponents 18-6 in the third quarter to take control of the contest.

Girls Varsity Gymnastics · @TheSalinePost: Gymnastics Team Opens 2018 With Victory


The Saline gymnastics team opened 2018 by defeating Hartland 132.05-130.2.

The Hornets bested the Eagles on the bars and then edged them on the beam and the floor. Hartland edged Saline in the vault. Sophomore Sarah McLaughlin won two events and finished fourth in another.
